The paved Brown Deer Recreational Trail connects the to the 30-mile Ozaukee Interurban trail to the north, and the Milwaukee County Oak Leaf Trail to the South. Access is located along the Wisconsin Electric Power Co. right of way on Brown Deer Rd. (cars may be parked on Arbon Drive, just to the east of the trail). Views along the Interurban trail include woodlands, wetlands, farmlands, Cedar Creek, Milwaukee River, and Lake Michigan. The trail is free to everyone, and it gets four-season use by bikers, hikers, runners, and cross country skiers.

The historic center of the Village of Brown Deer, this area is home to some of the oldest buildings in the community and many unique local businesses, including a number of popular local eateries.
Open from the middle of June through the middle of August from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily (12:00 to 5:00 p.m. on July 4) , the Village Pond is rimmed with a perfect sand beach and supervised by Life Guards.
The adjacent park has two park shelters, two volleyball courts and a children’s play area.
The Brown Deer Public Library provides educational, informational, recreational and cultural materials and services to those who live or work in Brown Deer as well as other Milwaukee County Federated Library System patrons. The Library's hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 AM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday 1 PM to 8:30 PM, Friday 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 2 PM. A convenient location near the High School campus makes the library very accessible.
